 Creating Emotional Wellness

Does Feeling Good Make You Exercise?

You’ve probably noticed that exercising can enhance your mood contributing to your emotional wellness.  But can mood enhance your desire to exercise?

Researchers at Bowling Green University studied a group of overweight people in a weight loss program.  The researchers recorded the participants’ morning, evening, and ‘pre’ and ‘post’ exercise moods as well as the duration, intensity and types of exercise.  Conclusion: Those in a better mood in the mornings were more likely to exercise that day.  Turns out our emotional wellness can affect our level of motivation.

So not only does exercise improve our moods, our moods improve our exercise.  This is a surprising addition to our mind body connection relationship.  It’s important to note that when we don’t exercise, our emotional wellness suffers.  And when we are not feeling good emotionally, we’re less motivated to exercise.  This is important information to know concerning Womens health wellness.

Your Emotional Wellness Starts HERE !This also helps to explain why when I’m working out consistently, I find it’s easier to keep on track – continuing to work out on a regular basis.  But when I’ve gotten ‘out of the groove’ it’s harder to get back to the gym and get going again.  But I’ve learned to use this information as useful self motivation!  Here’s how:

When I don’t feel like working out, I ask my self “Do I want to break the positive spiral I’m in?”  Then I remind myself “If I miss a few workouts, it’ll be harder to find the motivation to get back on track”.  Next, I remind myself “I won’t feel as good emotionally or physically.  Is this what I want?”   Womens health wellness is all about choice!

A key to physical and emotional wellness is consistent exercise.  Try giving yourself daily reasons to get on track and STAY on track.  After each workout, notice how much better you feel – physically and emotionally.  Get in touch with the feeling of well being you have created.  Allow yourself to feel these feelings deeply - you are living well!  Don’t let yourself take this for granted – consciously think this through before and after every workout.

Help yourself get on that ‘positive spiral’ and keep going!  Let your emotional wellness affect your physical well being and visa versa.  We all want to be participating in a wellness way of life and this is what womens health wellness is all about!
